His family moved to Helena, MT, his mother’s home town. He loved running through the mountains of his West Main neighborhood as a kid and he took full advantage of the adventures the rural-urban area had to offer. Strong bonds were formed with his cousins and friends that also lived along West Main, up the gulch and in Unionville.
Greg met Bonnie Campbell, in Helena, in fall of 1975 and together they started their journey in life by heading off to Phoenix, AZ. in early 1976. After only a few months of living in Phoenix they were transferred to Las Vegas, NV. There, Greg & Bonnie were married on July 22, 1976 at the Silver Bell Wedding Chapel. The happy couple also tried life in North Dakota and Minnesota before returning to Helena a few short years later. After 13 years of marriage, they welcomed a son, Michael Jay, to their little family. Greg couldn’t have been more proud of Mike from day one and comfortably settled into being a dad.

Some would say Greg collected occupations as a hobby, but he just wanted to try everything, not wanting to miss out on an opportunity. Over the course of Greg’s lifetime, he held positions as a telemarketer, car salesman, bartender, garbage collector, satellite installer, small engine repairman, hot tar roofer, and forest firefighter, to name some. Greg lowered barns in North Dakota, processed crab on a ship in the Bering Sea and was hired for the futile job of reducing the prairie dog population on a ranch near the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He installed gaming systems in hotels across the country from West Virginia to Santa Barbara, CA. With each job, Greg brought home great stories and wonderful memories of the brief friendships he made along the way. Greg wasn’t afraid to go where there was work but he also hated to be away from Bonnie and Mikey for too long. Greg finally found his dream job as a parts salesperson at Robert Allen Nissan in 2010. He felt it was his dream job because of the very special friends he found there. Time cut too short due to his illness.

Greg’s true hobbies were golfing with his Helena friends and online computer gaming with players all over the world. Greg had online friendships across the U.S., in Scotland, and even helped one guy from Italy with the English language through gaming and video chats. In the last few years he found that building and repairing computers to be incredibly rewarding, especially when he could introduce his friends to the world of computing and help them remain connected. He enjoyed cooking large amounts of food for many gatherings of family and friends, large and small. In his early years, Greg liked to shoot pool and play foosball, dance, camp and loved to be around friends. On second thought, Greg’s main hobby was collecting friendships.

Greg is survived by his wife, Bonnie and son, Michael Jay. Greg was a big part of Bonnie’s family and will be missed by his mother in law, Bev Campbell, Jean (Terry) Murphy, their children, Brian and Dan Murphy, Jeff (Mary) Campbell, Dave Campbell (Valari Karst), and her large extended family. Greg will also be missed by his parents, Bonnie & Harold Mohn, sister Chris (Larry) Koehler, brother Wayne (Debbie) Bushnell, Greg’s cousin Ted and his wife Barb Broderick, cousin Paula Broderick and many nieces & nephews. He cared deeply for them all. Greg also leaves behind many very special friends that meant more than the world to him.

Greg is preceded in death by his father in law, Tom “TC” Campbell, father, Ken Ogle, special aunt, Margie Broderick and grandfather, Ted Hay, grandparents Alice and Eddie Shanklin.

Funeral services with a reception to follow will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 2nd at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, 3750 N. Montana Ave. Memorials are suggested to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604.
