Randall (Randy) Martin Munger <\/p>\n
It is with much sadness that we mourn the sudden loss of Randall (Randy) Martin Munger who died on October 26, 2011 at his home in Townsend, MT. <\/p>\n
Randy was born July 4, 1962 in Helena, Montana to Richard Thomas Munger and Rosanne Marie Warren. He and his sister, Ronda, grew up in Bozeman & Helena. Randy attended Helena schools and graduated from Helena High School in 1981. He was a strong and able athlete, playing 8 years of football from elementary through High School. He was an active participant in track and field. His parents supported him throughout his athletics where he excelled. <\/p>\n
Randy was a son, father, family member and friend. He married Pat Andersen in Feburary 1991 in Helena, Montana. They had two children: Joseph (Joe) Martin Munger and Jennifer Megan Munger. He was a step father to Jon Andersen. He and Pat later divorced. He married Cindy Redifer on August 8, 2008 in Virginia City, MT. Cindy\u2019s children are Vicky Jensen and Denise Grimes. <\/p>\n
Randy was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in Japan, the Phillipines, Korea, and the Middle East during his 4-year tour of duty. Randy learned the carpentry trade from his Step-father, Del Oleson, and put these skills to work for many years. Most recently, he earned a Second Class Boiler Engineering License. He used his trade in several business settings, including hospitals. <\/p>\n
Randy enjoyed the pristine beauty of Montana. He spent many years growing up, not only in Bozeman and Helena, but on Canyon Ferry Lake, where he enjoyed countless hours with his parents and grandparents. It was there that he learned to water ski and became an avid fisherman. He also grew up skiing at Bridger Bowl, Big Sky and, in recent years, at Showdown with his children. To see Randy ski was like watching a ballet dancer \u2013 with strength, style and grace. This past summer, Randy found clarity, peace and joy while riding his Harley Davidson — feeling the wind in his face while traveling the open road. <\/p>\n
Randy possessed a loving heart, a patient soul, and a fabulous sense of humor. He was a devoted father to his children. He loved animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed many long periods living healthy and strong. However, he also struggled with a major challenge. <\/p>\n
Randy fought a long battle with alcoholism; an addiction that would ultimately cause him a very untimely death. We are left now to take comfort in knowing that Randy is free from the pain and suffering. He has found his ultimate peace. <\/p>\n
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosanne Warren Oleson and his grandparents, Joe and
Harriet Munger. <\/p>\n
He is survived by his children, Joe and Jennifer, and step son Jon Andersen; his wife, Cindy, and her children Vicky and Denise; his father and step mother, Rich and Bette Munger; step brothers, Jeff and Erik Hall; sister, Ronda Marie Roope (Duane) and nieces, Sarah Rose and Nichole Ann Roope; grandparents, Owen and Ann Warren; step father, Del Oleson and his children, Rob and Kim; as well as several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. <\/p>\n
Local arrangements have been made at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home with a Memorial Service to be held at Retz Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 16, at 2:00 p.m. The family will begin receiving friends at 1:00 p.m. Please join the family immediately following the service for a gathering at the Montana City Grill in Montana City.
