Bloom 84 of Helena, MT passed away at the Cooney Home, Helena, MT on October 30, 2011 of natural causes. <\/p>\n<p>A burial service with military honors will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011, 2:00 P.M. at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Harrison, MT. A reception will follow at the 702 Club, 908 Euclid Ave. from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. <\/p>\n<p>Howard Elmer \u201cHap\u201d Bloom was born August 24, 1927, in Great Falls, MT. He was the only child born to parents Elmer G. and Veronica C. (Macek) Bloom. Howard was raised and educated in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1946. He enlisted into the U.S. Army and served as a Technician from 1946-1948 which included a tour of Korea. After his honorable discharge he began a career with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co., later known as Mountain Bell at Great Falls. He retired after 36 years in Helena. <\/p>\n<p>Howard married Gladys C. Ferguson on April 22, 1951 in Great Falls. Two children were born to the Bloom\u2019s, Kristine and David. Through Howard\u2019s career advancement the family lived in Great Falls, Havre, Cut Bank, Shelby and the past 31 years in Helena. <\/p>\n<p>Howard enjoyed big game hunting, fishing, was an avid downhill skier, had talented skills in wood working, enjoyed dancing and playing pinochle. While living along the Hi-Line he found his love for the game of golf. He was instrumental in helping several people master the game of golf as well as volunteering with the design and maintenance of several golf courses. Howard was successful twice on acing a \u201chole in one\u201d once at the Havre Country Club and another at the Green Meadow Country Club, Helena. He achieved many awards through \u2018Ma Bell\u2019 and golf tournaments. He was a long time member of the Broadwater Athletic Club, Elks Club, VFW and received awards for his commitment as a volunteer with the Montana State Library and the Telephone Pioneers Talking Books program. <\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys and his parents. <\/p>\n<p>Survivors are daughter Kristine and husband Ken Inabnit, Helena; son David and wife JoAnn Bloom, Kimberly, WI. Three grandchildren, Kyle Inabnit of Choteau, Kevin Inabnit and wife Lisa of Anacortes, WA., Charmonix Bloom of Helena; and three Great Grand-daughters, Alexus, Kendal and Dakota. <\/p>\n<p>Howard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took pride in his children and grandchildren\u2019s accomplishments. He looked forward to his daily afternoon social hour with friends at the Hofbrau later known as the 702 Club. <\/p>\n<p>Over the past two years, Howard was grateful for all of the wonderful care he received at the Waterford, the Cooney Home and Hospice of St. Peters. <\/p>\n<p>Memorials can be made to a charity of donor\u2019s choice. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home.
