{"id":881,"date":"2012-08-19T18:11:31","date_gmt":"2012-08-20T00:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenafuneralhome.com\/?post_type=case&#038;p=881"},"modified":"2012-08-19T18:11:31","modified_gmt":"2012-08-20T00:11:31","slug":"james-foley","status":"publish","type":"case","link":"https:\/\/helenafuneralhome.com\/obituaries\/james-foley\/","title":{"rendered":"James Foley"},"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","class_list":{"0":"post-881","1":"case","2":"type-case","3":"status-publish","5":"entry"},"acf":[],"fields":{"event_title1":"","event_date1":"","start_time1":"","end_time1":"","location1":"","address1":"","city1":"","state1":"","zipcode1":"","event_title2":"","event_date2":"","start_time2":"","end_time2":"","location2":"","address2":"","city2":"","state2":"","zipcode2":"","event_title3":"","event_date3":"","start_time3":"","end_time3":"","location3":"","address3":"","city3":"","state3":"","zipcode3":"","event_title4":"","event_date4":"","start_time4":"","end_time4":"","location4":"","address4":"","city4":"","state4":"","zipcode4":"","service_status":"public","first_name":"James","middle_name":"","last_name":"Foley","date_born":"10\/1\/1938","date_died":"7\/9\/2011","age":"","city":"","state":"","full_obituary_text":"<p>James \u201cJim\u201d Eugene Foley passed away during the late hours of July 9, 2011. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jim was born October 1, 1938, in Chicago, Ill. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jim spent most of his young life in Chicago but experienced parts of the Eastern world during his service in the U.S. Navy in the 1950\u2019s. \u00a0Jim moved to Montana with his family in the early 1990\u2019s and relocated to Helena approximately six years ago. \u00a0Jim felt truly at home in Helena and was an active volunteer in the Helena community. \u00a0Jim donated his time to the Lewis &amp; Clark Library, Good Samaritan Ministries, Habitat for Humanity and the Montana Historical Society. \u00a0Jim was also proud to be in the Candlelight AA Group where he was a dearly loved member. \u00a0Jim had a passion for all forms of art: \u00a0music, theatre, literature, etc . . . \u00a0 As an avid reader, Jim wore his library card thin on everything from James Joyce to Dostoyevsky to Jean Paul Sartre. \u00a0 Jim (though he would never admit it) was a very special human being who lived the last years of his life with quiet dignity in service to others. \u00a0His quick wit and quiet reflections enriched the lives of those around him. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his daughters, Amanda Foley of Portland, Oregon, Shannon Foley of Bozeman, Montana, and Tara Foley of Missoula, Montana; as well as numerous friends in the Helena community. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He will be missed. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15th at St. Mary\u2019s Catholic Church, 1700 Missoula Ave. in Helena. Interment with military honors will follow at Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Ft. Harrison.
