Wayne A. Fisher, age 78, died June 28, 2011 after sustaining extensive <br \/>injuries from a fall in Helena, Montana. His wife of 52 years, Marilyn and his <br \/>loving family were at his side when he went to be with his Lord. <\/p>\n<p>Wayne was born in Fort Collins, Colorado and graduated from Monrovia, Arcadia, Duarte Union <br \/>High School in California. His college studies were completed, after serving in <br \/>the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Although he received a B.S. degree in <br \/>Soil Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and was offered a position with the <br \/>U.S. Forest Service, he began Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA and went on to <br \/>graduate from Dubuque Theological Seminary in Iowa to earn his masters degree <br \/>and dedicate his life to the service of Jesus Christ as a Pastor. <\/p>\n<p>He served pastorates in Iowa before being called as the Senior Pastor for First <br \/>Presbyterian Church in Butte from 1980 to 1997 when he retired. He continued his <br \/>work post retirement, filling in at many churches in Montana. He performed over <br \/>170 weddings, his final one for his grandson, Christopher and Trudi Fisher in <br \/>December 2010. Wayne cared deeply about his work as a Pastor and helped anyone <br \/>who came to him in need. He loved reading books, newspapers, and other <br \/>literature, always learning throughout his life. He served on the boards of <br \/>Salvation Army, United Way and the Butte Food Bank among many other community <br \/>involvements. <\/p>\n<p>Wayne and Marilyn moved from Butte to Helena in 2008 to be closer to son, Dan <br \/>and family. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family. He was married <br \/>to the love of his life, Marilyn (Bowen) Fisher on December 19, 1958 and is <br \/>survived by she and their three children, Daniel Fisher and his wife, Miyoko of <br \/>Helena, Annette Fisher Richards of Renton, WA, and Neil Fisher of Marysville, <br \/>WA. He is also survived by his grandson, Christopher Fisher and his wife, Trudi, <br \/>and grandchildren, Zachary and Julia Fisher. <\/p>\n<p>A visitation to sign the guestbook for the family will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 1st at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home. A public graveside service with military honors will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2nd at Forestvale Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Helena immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Bible Society, or a charity of the donor\u2019s choice.
