June Audrey Porter Paulson, of Townsend passed away on June 28, 2011, one day after her 87th birthday, at the Broadwater Health Care Center.<\/p>\n<p>June Audrey Porter Paulson was born on June 27, 1924 to Hazel Robinson Porter and Hadley Porter in Minneapolis, MN. She was raised by Hazel and step-father Percy Sutton. June graduated from North High School in Minneapolis in 1942. She married Roger Bonesteel shortly after graduating and they began their family. Together they raised three children, Gary, Kathleen, and Douglas.<\/p>\n<p>After raising their family, June and Roger divorced. June pursued a career as a Psychiatric Nurse and worked for the next 30 years in the Minnesota State Hospital System. On December 19, 1970 she married Clayton Paulson in Brookings, SD. When June and Clayton retired in 1984, they moved to Townsend, Montana to be close to daughter Kathleen and family. Together they enjoyed 40 years of marriage, traveling and camping throughout Minnesota and Montana.<\/p>\n<p>While in Townsend, June worked at the Broadwater Nursing Home on the hill, as well as volunteering at the Library and Historical Museum. She was a devoted member of the Eastern Star and attended the United Methodist Church of Townsend.<\/p>\n<p>June loved music and played the organ and accordion as often as possible. She had many cherished friends, absolutely adored children and unquestioningly loved her stray animals. In later years, June\u2019s favorite past time was enjoying her yard and beautiful flowers.<\/p>\n<p>June is survived by her children, Gary (Sandi) Bonesteel of Maricopa, AZ, Kathleen (John) Poppe of East Helena, MT and Douglas Bonesteel of Morrelton, AR; grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Mader of East Helena, MT, Eric (Cheri) Copeland of Helena, MT, Krista (Steve) Schwartz of Scottsdale, AZ and Kara (Mike) Larson of Sahuarita, AZ; her very special niece, Connie (Mark) Muckenthaler; nephew, Donnie Genung; and great-grandchildren, Savanah, Max, Trey, Mason, Steven, Jacob, and Aiden; and great-niece, Janette.<\/p>\n<p>June is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Paulson; parents, Hazel and Percy Sutton and Hadley Porter; Roger Bonesteel and sister, Vera Woodling.<\/p>\n<p>A memorial service celebrating the life of June and her husband Clayton will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5th at Townsend United Methodist Church.
