She was born in Vancouver, WA on April 25, 1954. <\/p>\n<p>Marilyn lived in Helena for 12 years. She worked for the Montana Historical Society as a tour guide at the state capitol and the Old Governor\u2019s Mansion. Marilyn was the granddaughter of Montana pioneers. Her mother, Doris (Rasmussen) Swanson was born and raised in Sidney, Montana. Her father, Dale Swanson, was born and raised in Lewiston, Montana. <\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her husband John, her two children Eric and Sunny, her brother Robert Swanson of Spokane and her sister Nancy Jochem of Bozeman. <br \/>Marilyn was an enthusiast for literature and history and she was passionate about nature. She was an outspoken person with a strong sense of humor, and her voice and laughter will be deeply missed by everyone she left behind. <\/p>\n<p>Her family is holding a memorial gathering in celebration of her life at her house on 1680 Virginia Dale Street, Helena. The event will be an open house, with food and drinks provided, from 12:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, May 1. Family friends and acquaintances are welcome to come and go any time during those hours, to pay their respects to her family, share stories and celebrate her memory. <\/p>\n<p>In Marilyn\u2019s honor, charitable donations can be made to the Nature Conservancy, in order to help preserve the natural environment that she loved.
