He fought a courageous battle with cardiovascular disease.

Butch was born in Hamilton on Sept. 11, 1950, to Glenn D. and Joy (Paddock) Rose, their only son who was their pride and joy. He graduated in 1968 from Helena High!

He worked on the railroad for 20 years, did seasonal work for the county as a mechanic, and a few various jobs until he became disabled and was no longer able to work. He loved country western music, cowboy westerns, country gospel, and watching “Country’s Family Reunions” on Fridays.

Butch raised a few cattle on his little “Green Acres,” which was his pride and joy. His wife named them, but he called them Meat Heads. He had a lot of friends and family, and everyone loved him. He might not have been rich in some ways, but was a millionaire in friends. Butch had a banjo which he was going to learn to play. He tried a few times, but got too busy doing other things. This was to be his winter project.

Butch is survived by his wife and soul mate of 16 years, Carol; stepsons, Rick Williams, Kelvin Williams (Renee), and Tyler Pacheco; his sisters, Judy Pope, Jo Goodtrack, and Mischief Winnehoff; step-granddaughters, Amanda Rickard, “Twiggy,” as Grandpa Butch called her, and Amber Martin; step-grandson, RJ Williams; step-great-grandchildren, Justin, Brianna, Joseph, and Alysa Rickard, Hayden, Alexis, and Noah Rassmussen, and Nevaeh Martin; and favorite nephews, Jim and Ed Freeburg. He is also survived by his uncles, Myrle (Mona) Rose and Fred (Jeanette) Hasselbroock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Butch had a strong bond with his little coffee buddy who drank coffee with him every morning, a Blue Quaker Parrot, Dolly, whom Butch had taught to say please before she would get her coffee and Butch would say OK. He will also be missed by his other coffee buddies, his favorite aunt, Jo McPhee, and uncle Dick, telling jokes.

Butch was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence Rose and Lois Peters; his parents, Glenn and Joy Rose; foster paternal grandparents, William and Lilly Jenkins; maternal grandparents, Jim and Gladys Paddock; and brothers-in-law, Kiefer Foote and Lee Pope.

Butch was known to be of help to all his friends, as they were to him. He will be missed by his special friends, David Nettleton, Ray Baugh, John Parry, Jim Parry (who nicknamed Butch “Chief Bald Eagle”), Don Whitson, Dennis Meyers, Rick Persinger, Delmar Davis, and Jack Hall. He was also very loved by our minister, Dan Deininger and his wife, Val, and their daughter, Amy, who spent their last hours with Butch before he passed, praying for peace. The nurse said she had never seen anyone go as peacefully as Butch did. Butch will be missed.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Anderson, Stevenson, Wilke Funeral Home Chapel, 650 Logan St. A potluck will follow the service at the Super 8 Motel conference room, 2200 11th Ave. Please bring a dish of your choice. All are encouraged to share their memories of Butch or leave condolences for the family at www.aswfuneralhome.com.

["GET
