Daniel \u201cDan\u201d James Satterfield, age 50 of Helena, MT passed March 20, 2026, unexpectedly next to his wife, his darlin\u2019.<\/p>\n
Dan was born January 28, 1976, at St. Peters Hospital in Helena, MT. Dan was the second son born to Marsha Perkins and David Satterfield.<\/p>\n
Dan, later on was adopted by his father, Melvin King and the two became inseparable. Mel and Dan would spend time out in the mountains hunting and fishing. Because of those precious memories Dan fell in love with being out in the fresh air of the mountains.<\/p>\n
Dan met his wife of 26 years, she was an avid outdoors person as well. Shortly after, the children came. Dan and his family were always off camping, hunting, hiking and taking rides through the mountains. Dan passed that love of exploration through the mountains around Montana to his children.<\/p>\n
After their children grew up and left home, Dan and his wife each bought a side by side and joined the Helltown riders\u2019 group. Dan and his wife never missed a beat trying to find a new place to explore and new challenges they could take along the way. They tempted fate a few times, but in doing so, made some of the best memories and inside secrets.<\/p>\n
Dan loved working with his hands. He had his own construction company in Helena for many years. He would take such pride when passing by the homes years after completion, pointing out, \u201cI did that house, or I was part of the construction for Straw Market\u201d. He would build his wife new garden walls every year as they shared the same affinity for growing flowers and vegetables. He loved watching his Daylilies grow and bloom. And was like a kid at Christmas, checking daily to see if the vegetables were starting to sprout.<\/p>\n
Dan was an easy-going, fun-loving man and made so many friends though out his life. Even strangers were charmed by how easy he was to laugh and help with anything. His sense of humor was always there to make a room laugh. When picking what he wanted to be called instead of \u2018grandpa\u2019, he chose to be \u2018Papi\u2019 as he always wanted to say, \u201cI\u2019m da Papi\u201d. Instead, he was called \u2018Happi\u2019. Perfectly fitting for the grandpa who is always so happy. He never got to choose his nicknames in life. From \u201cHandsome\u201d given to him from his wife to his sons \u201cBig Daddy\u201d, and then his granddaughter, \u201cHappi\u201d.<\/p>\n
Dan is proceeded in death by his son, Joey Kristopher Michael Satterfield, his mother, Marsha Perkins and father, Melvin King Jr.<\/p>\n
Dan is survived by his wife, Julie Satterfield whom he affectionately called \u201chis darlin\u201d and his sons, Cyrus Satterfield, Ryan-Avery Satterfield (Megan Satterfield) and granddaughter Faylynn Satterfield and his brothers Aaron Nelson and Todd Satterfield.<\/p>\n

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke and Retz Funeral Home, 3750 N.
