He grew up surrounded by family in both Helena & Missoula. As a child, Jacobs’ favorite activity was making sure his older brother Justin never knew a moment of peace. He was a wild child climbing up ladders at 1 year old despite his mother’s wishes he wouldn’t, he never liked being told what to do. His wild and untamable spirit was a signature of his one-of-a-kind personality. Shooting with his dad as a young boy established his love of firearms and the outdoors. Some of his best memories were made in the hills high above Helena on dirtbikes with his dad while on family camping trips, they would ride for hours at a time, leaving Julie and Justin wondering where they had gone until they could hear the sounds of dirtbikes in the distance. Jacob had a unique sense of humor that is one of the things his brother will miss most in his absence.

He loved going to Griz football games with his family and friends. While he didn’t love the confines of school, he loved learning and taught himself many things, like working on his truck, woodworking, remodeling his place, world history, Christianity, firearms, and so much more. His prized possession was his 1992 Dodge Power RAM 250 with a Cummins Turbodiesel he drove all the way to Washington to buy, even though he had never driven a stick shift. He used his 1st generation Cummins the way they are meant to be used, and it was always some shade of Montana mud brown.

Jacob was a very private person, and those who knew him (and they know who they are) knew that he was fiercely loyal and protective of the family and friends that he loved. His profound faith got him through the loss of his father (Bill Bright) in June of 2025.

Jacob loved Motorcycles, especially dirt bikes and was riding them as often as he could during his life. Jacob was a free spirit and took after his father with a love of the outdoors, hiking, fishing, camping, and shooting. Jacob was at his happiest out in nature, listening to the waters running through creeks, birds singing in the trees. This was where he was most at peace and always said this is the way life should be! He would quite often share photos of the beautiful surroundings he found himself in while out at one with nature. He loved getting dirty from a very young age, dragging his feet so dust would surround him. Every mud puddle called his name, whether it be on his bicycle or motorbike, much to his dad’s dismay.

Jacob is survived by his mother, Julie Bright of East Helena, his brother Justin (Alex) Bright-Sandroff of Tucson, Arizona, his Grandparents Judy & Wally Lockington of Tucson, Arizona, his Aunts & Uncles: Dan (Lynnae) Bright of Helena, Jeff (Brenda) Lockington of East Helena, Michelle (Ken) Watt of Missoula Linda Duncan of Sierra Vista, Arizona. His many cousins: Taylor Watt of Billings, Montana, Rylee Watt of Missoula Montana, Cori Duncan of Ashville, North Carolina, Camille (Mark) Cope of Beaverton, Oregon, Dawn (Eugene) Bright of Missoula, Montana, Nick Bright of Helena, and Dan Duncan of Arizona, as well as many other family members.

Jacob was preceded in death by his father, Bill Bright, paternal Grandmother Ethel Bright, and so many other extended family members.

Jacob’s family invites you to join them at a memorial service in celebration of Jacob’s life 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home 3750 N.
