At long last he’ll get to see her lovely face and brother Cliff’s,too at Heaven’s gate. We found Bill when we moved him to an apt from living in his car after his employer threw him away due to his age. With ever present smile and press forward attitude he won the hearts of many. Loved his pipe tobacco days, the peace and glory of fishing and birthday dinners at Smith’s in EHelena. Many of us treasure his colorful aphgans and don’t forget the many cabins he put together with popsicle sticks! Happy trails…Go Fishin’!!!! We’ll be seeing you again!

He lived in the Waukesha group home complex and I saw and talked to him several times. He seemed like a gentle soul, so friendly and always smiling. After seeing him once for a brief time, I think he remembered me each time after that. There was something about him that I liked. He reminded me of my grandfather.

I read Bill’s obituary and the things others said about him in this guest book – one, about living in his car when, because of his age, his boss let him go. Sometimes, when the rest of us become dissatisfied with our lives, our jobs, what we have or don’t have, we would do well to remember Bill and others like him who keep smiling and have the great attitudes they do in spite of the their odds. They are truly Gods children and will surely live with the angels.

God bless you, Bill.

We enjoyed many potlucks there and many conversations. He knitted me a scarf one year for Christmas. He so touched my heart. In later years, as both of our lives had changed and took us in different directions, I would see him at the walking mall downtown. He always remembered me and I him. We would stop and visit and catch up. As I learned about his life my respect for this man grew and grew. He never whined or complained. He was grateful to live the life God had given him. We could all learn a lesson of trusting God’s ways from Billy. God Bless you Billy as you sit in the presence of Jesus, laying your huge crown at his feet, and praising him for an eternity. I’ll look forward to seeing you there someday. Big Hugs.

He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone he met. To me, Bill represented all that was good and pure about humanity.
I first met Bill in the late 70’s, when we both were living in Boulder. Throughout the years, we would meet once again, and it always was a pleasure to visit with him.
I’ll miss you, Bill
